Why India in 2026?

Why Bangladeshi Students Choose India in 2026

The Western Door Is Closing

Canada cut student intake by 35%. Australia tightened post-study work rights. The UK raised financial requirements. Studying in India from Bangladesh offers NAAC A+ degrees, English-medium instruction, and a culturally familiar environment — at a fraction of Western costs.

Visas Are Being Restored

India is restoring full visa services for Bangladeshi students in 2026 following an 18-month slowdown. Student visa categories are among the first being prioritised. WBE tracks appointment availability and advises on exact application timing.

2026 Is the Optimal Window

Scholarship percentages are fixed for the 2026 intake. Seats at WBE partner universities are filling now. Check your scholarship eligibility — students who apply today lock in their tier before policies or fees change for the next academic year.

Why WBE?

Why Bangladeshi Families Trust WBE

Every year, families across Bangladesh trust WBE to guide their children through the process of studying in India from Bangladesh — safely, transparently, and at zero cost to students.

Scholarship Locked Before You Pay

Your exact scholarship percentage is confirmed in your official Offer Letter before you pay a single Taka to the university. No verbal promises. No adjustments after payment.

Degree Valid in Bangladesh

All 7 WBE partner universities are recognised by UGC India, NAAC-accredited, and eligible for degree equivalence in Bangladesh. WBE does not partner with institutions whose degrees create problems at home.

End-to-End Support

Profile assessment → application → visa guidance → FRRO registration → hostel settlement → post-arrival check-ins. WBE supports students until they graduate — not just until they land.

Our Process

How WBE Gets You to Campus — Completely Free

Our admission process is managed end-to-end by WBE — zero fees, zero confusion.

Free Profile Assessment

We analyse your GPA, budget, and goals to match you with the right university and the maximum scholarship your academic profile qualifies for.

Application & Document Submission

We submit your application through our official university channels — faster and more securely than applying alone, with zero risk of document rejection from informal channels.

Scholarship Confirmation in Writing

Your scholarship percentage is confirmed in your official Offer Letter before you pay anything. This is non-negotiable at WBE — verbal promises do not exist here.

Student Visa Guidance

We prepare your complete S-visa documentation file. The Indian student visa requires correct offer letters, financial proofs, and specific document formats — WBE ensures your file is right the first time.

Pre-Departure Orientation

Before you leave Bangladesh, WBE briefs you on campus life, halal food, Friday prayers, FRRO rules, social media conduct in India, and what to expect on Day 1.

Post-Arrival Support

We assist with FRRO registration (legally required within 14 days of arrival), hostel setup, and regular check-ins throughout your first semester. WBE does not disappear after you board your flight.

Buyer Beware

9 Mistakes Bangladeshi Students Make When Applying to Indian Universities

Avoid these before you start — they cost students money, time, and in some cases, their entire future.

Paying fees to the agent, not the university

Unlicensed agents collect advance payments in cash or to personal accounts, then delay, stall, or disappear. Bangladeshi investigations estimate at least Tk 150 crore has been lost to study-abroad fraud over the past decade. The rule is simple: if any money goes to the consultancy before the university — walk away. WBE never handles student money.

Assuming a trade licence means the agent is regulated

In Bangladesh, anyone can register a consultancy with only a trade licence. There is no mandatory government licensing for education consultancies. A trade licence is the minimum baseline, not evidence of reliability. Ask for university MOUs and direct institutional relationships.

Choosing a university without checking UGC recognition — not just NAAC grade

NAAC grade and UGC recognition are two different things. A university can hold a NAAC A+ grade but still not appear on UGC Bangladesh's recognised foreign university list. Your degree's validity in Bangladesh depends on UGC Bangladesh recognition and your professional council — not just NAAC. All 7 WBE partner universities satisfy both.

Not getting scholarship confirmed in writing before paying

Verbal scholarship promises are worthless. Your Offer Letter must state the exact scholarship percentage before you transfer any fees to the university. If it is not in writing, it does not exist. WBE makes this non-negotiable for every student.

Missing FRRO registration within 14 days of arrival

FRRO registration is a legal requirement for all international students in India. Missing the 14-day window after arrival attracts fines, complicates visa extensions, and can create an immigration record that follows you. WBE's post-arrival support includes FRRO guidance for every student.

Applying for the wrong visa category

Tourist visas cannot be converted to student visas inside India. You must apply for an S-visa (student visa) from Bangladesh before departure. Common document errors are the leading cause of student visa refusals for Bangladeshi applicants. WBE prepares your complete visa file to eliminate these errors.

Not checking scholarship continuation conditions before enrolling

Most Indian university scholarships continue from Year 2 only if: the student has zero back papers, minimum 75% attendance, and all fees are paid on time. WBE explains all conditions transparently before you commit.

Waiting until the last month to apply

Indian universities close intake seats months before the semester starts, not weeks. Students who apply in June for a July intake frequently find their preferred program full or scholarship tiers changed. The 2026 intake is filling now.

Posting or engaging with political content on social media while in India

Indian student visa conditions prohibit engagement in activities deemed 'anti-government.' Documented cases exist of Bangladeshi students being expelled and deported not for protest activity — but simply for liking or sharing a political Facebook post. WBE explicitly covers social media conduct during pre-departure orientation. This warning is real.

Important

Is Your Indian Degree Valid in Bangladesh?

This is the most important question no consultancy answers clearly. Here is the honest answer.

1

UGC India Recognition (not just NAAC grade)

Your university must be officially recognised by the University Grants Commission of India. NAAC grade and UGC recognition are separate — a university needs both. All 7 WBE partner universities are UGC-recognised.

2

UGC Bangladesh Recognition

Bangladesh maintains its own list of recognised foreign universities. For your degree to be accepted for equivalence in Bangladesh, your institution must appear on this list. WBE only partners with universities that satisfy this condition.

3

Professional Council Recognition

For medicine, engineering, law, and nursing — your degree must also be recognised by the relevant Bangladeshi professional council: BMDC for MBBS/BDS, BAEC for engineering, Bangladesh Bar Council for law, and BNMC for nursing. WBE verifies council recognition for every professional program before recommending it.

WBE does not recommend any university or program whose degree creates recognition problems in Bangladesh. Ask us about any specific program →

Doubts & Questions

Real Questions from Bangladeshi Students & Parents

These are the questions WBE hears every day — answered honestly. Visit our full FAQ page for more or contact WBE directly.

Does WBE charge any fees for its services?

No. Western Bangla Education operates on a 100% zero service fee model. You pay tuition fees directly to the Indian university. WBE charges nothing for counselling, application processing, visa guidance, or post-arrival support. WBE is funded by its university partnerships — not by students.

What scholarships are available for Bangladeshi students at Indian universities?

Scholarships at WBE partner universities range from 25% to 60% depending on your GPA and chosen program. Sharda University offers up to 50% for students with GPA 3.5 or above. Galgotias offers up to 60%. Noida International University offers a flat 50% across most programs. WBE confirms your exact scholarship percentage in your Offer Letter before you pay anything.

Do I need IELTS or TOEFL to apply to Indian private universities?

No. Indian private universities do not require IELTS or TOEFL for Bangladeshi students. All programs at WBE partner universities are conducted fully in English. Your SSC and HSC results are sufficient for admission.

Is it safe for Bangladeshi students to study in India?

The vast majority of Bangladeshi students study in India peacefully every year. However, WBE advises students to be aware of two specific risks: first, avoid any political expression on Indian social media or campuses. Second, documented incidents at specific campuses show that campus tensions can escalate. WBE recommends its 7 partner universities specifically because they have stable, established Bangladeshi student communities and strong support infrastructure.

Can I post political content on social media while studying in India?

This requires a direct and serious answer. Indian student visa conditions prohibit engagement in activities that Indian authorities consider 'anti-government.' Documented cases exist of Bangladeshi students receiving 'Leave India' notices — not for attending protests, but for liking or sharing a political Facebook post. WBE covers social media conduct explicitly in pre-departure orientation. The guidance is simple: while on an Indian student visa, avoid all political content online — regardless of your personal views.

Will my Indian degree be valid in Bangladesh?

For WBE's 7 partner universities — yes. All are recognised by UGC India, NAAC-accredited, and eligible for degree equivalence in Bangladesh. For professional programs (medicine, engineering, law, nursing), degree recognition also requires approval from the relevant Bangladesh professional council — BMDC, BAEC, Bar Council, or BNMC respectively. WBE verifies this for every program before recommending it.

Are Indian degrees from WBE partner universities better than Bangladeshi private university degrees?

For the 7 universities WBE partners with — yes, for specific reasons. All are NAAC A+ accredited, UGC-recognised, and have established international alumni networks. They offer fully English-medium instruction and exposure to a larger, more diverse academic environment. WBE partners only with institutions where the degree genuinely adds value.

Will I get halal food at the Indian university hostel?

Yes. All 7 WBE partner universities have halal food options available in their hostels and campus cafeterias. This is a requirement WBE confirms with each university before recommending it to Bangladeshi Muslim students.

Can I go home to Bangladesh during Eid and semester breaks?

Yes. Students on a valid Indian student visa can travel between India and Bangladesh during holidays and semester breaks. WBE advises on re-entry documentation during pre-departure orientation so you never face issues at the border.

What is FRRO and what happens if I miss it?

FRRO stands for Foreigners Regional Registration Office. All international students in India are legally required to register with FRRO within 14 days of arrival. Missing this window attracts fines and can create immigration complications including difficulty renewing your visa. WBE guides every student through FRRO registration as part of standard post-arrival support — at no cost.

The Indian student visa was suspended — is it safe to apply now?

India suspended and restricted most visa categories for Bangladeshi nationals following the political upheaval of mid-2024. By 2026, India is restoring visa services and student categories are among the first being processed. WBE monitors appointment availability in real time and advises students on the optimal timing to submit visa applications. The situation is improving — but plan for longer processing times than pre-2024.

What if the consultancy I used disappears after I pay?

This is the most common study-abroad fraud pattern in Bangladesh. Investigations estimate Bangladeshi students have lost at least Tk 150 crore to study-abroad consultancy fraud over the past decade. The protection is simple: never pay anything to a consultancy. All fees go directly to the university only. WBE never touches student money — we have zero financial motive to disappear because we charge nothing.

How long does the admission process take?

Most students receive their Offer Letter within 7–14 working days of submitting complete documents. WBE processes applications through direct MOU channels, bypassing the standard public application queue. Complete documents submitted correctly the first time is the single biggest factor in speed.

What documents do I need to apply?

SSC Marksheet, HSC Marksheet, Bachelor's Marksheet (if applicable), Birth Certificate, and Passport (strongly preferred over NID — passport is required for the visa stage regardless).
